How many words are said about champagne, how many deserved prizes were proclaimed on his honour. But however, probably it should be reminisced one of periods of his history, not large, but very meaningful, as it is heavy to over-estimate his payment.

History of the Kiev Factory of Sparkling Wines begins from the second half of the nineteenth century, when 1860 the colonist of the Wolhyn province William Yakovich Rikhert built on own territory, in the suburb of Kyiv – Kurenivtsi brewery which was considered as one with the highest capacity by that time.

After Second World War, a soviet government came forward with initiative to revival wine making in Soviet Union, offering on the signature of Y.Stalin Decision of Soviet Union Minister Council "About speed-up of champagne factories and wine making for the primary processing of wine". Suggestion was approved and as a result, in December 1949 Executive Committee of Kiev city council of workers’ deputies took decision to give Combine of champagne wines of Ukraine a lot land by an area of about 8.5 hectares and all houses down the street Siretskiy 19, (on the territory of William Rikhert’s factory), for building Kiev Factory of Sparkling Wines.

At the same time, 1953 soviet scientists-champagnizers had invented the new champagnization method in a continuous stream. Essence of method is that the process of the second fermentation takes place already not in the closed reservoir, but in a stream – system from 7-8 consistently united tanks-acratophors – with one set speed and permanent pressure. This method was applied in industry 1954. One of the first enterprises that applied the method of «continuous stream» was the Kiev Factory of Sparkling Wines. In the first years of activity, the enterprise actively grew up production rates and perfected technology. So the first turn of factory had made 1, 5 million bottles, and already in a year this number grew in twice. Such rates of development in quite short interval of time provided our enterprise a leading place in wine making industry of Soviet Union, and in future position of undoubted leader at the Ukrainian market of sparkling wines.

But such success would be impossible without pursuing of modernization policy and innovations. Changes took place almost every year. 1957 with the purpose of assortment expansion and introduction of new high-quality sparkling wines types, the factory mastered the production of new sparkling wine type "Sovetskoe muskat champagne" - original sparkling light-gold wine which differed from the ordinary sparkling wine through especially tender aroma and pleasant taste, inherent in fresh muscadine that entered in the complement of drink. Drink had large demand for the users of whole former Soviet Union. High quality of this wine was marked by silver and gold medals during international competition of wines in Hungary and Yugoslavia.

1959 the factory produced experimental party of sparkling wine "Muscat Igristiy" in an amount of 10 thousand bottles. Unlike muscat champagne, "Muscat Igristiy" was prepared exceptionally from muscatels’ wine materials. This sparkling differs by more expressed tones, and more complete harmonic taste. During years wine-makers of the Kiev Factory of Sparkling Wines created new types of sparkling wine, that immediately got favour of domestic users and grew into tradition. On beginning of 1993 assortment of products had consisted of sparkling wines such standards: brut, dry, half-dry, semisweet, sweet, and also "Muscat Igristiy", "South Igristiy white", "Kiev Igristiy rose". During next years the assortment of products was filled up with trade marks with special names: "Hetman", "Yuvileyne" and "Gold". Times passed, countries and power were changed, unchanging is only tradition to mark festive instants with sparkling productions of KFCW. During 55 years of the factory existence it became one of the most modern enterprises in Ukraine. For today, the enterprise is a leader among the Ukrainian producers of sparkling wines. The assortment of factory consists of about 30 types of sparkling wine of 8 different standards. The basic trade marks are known not only by Ukrainian user, there are: ТМ «Ukrainian» - 5 kinds, ТМ «Sovetskoe champagne», ТМ «Sovetskoe Premium» 5 types, ТМ «Gold» - 4 kinds and another. Regularly sparkling lines from KFCW are filled up with new positions. Taste properties of every drink are developed by leading technologists of factory, coming from researches which are conducted by experts beginning from the study of alcoholic market and demand of users. On this enterprise a drinking-water is also made "Rikhert’s well" and non-alcoholic child's sparkling "Shampusik". KFCW products are popular not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. Supplying with sparkling is conducted during many years in such countries as Germany, England, Spain, Switzerland, Estonia and other. The raw materials sources for sparkling production are Crimean, Moldavian and Ukrainian wine material. The factory has the wine making economies which are placed in Odessa and Mykolaiv regions.

The Kiev Factory of Sparkling Wines constantly takes part in international exhibitions and tasting competitions, where it had got 50 medals with more than a half are gold. Moreover, during four years sparkling wine won produced by KFCW had won an international festival-competition «Choice of the year». Except for above marked, 2007 on the VII International competition of wines, cognacs, sparkling wines and fruit wines «Yalta. Gold Griphon-2007», position «Ukrainian» brut red took grand prize in the category of sparkling wines. As the result of the annual rating «Guard 500», the Kiev Factory of Sparkling Wines is appreciated as one of most expensive companies of Ukrainian alcoholic market, and repeatedly appropriated was its executive director Matsko О.P. as one of the best leaders of wine making industry. Moreover factory governing body considers about necessity of supporting social sphere of life, assisting to development of science and art, inlaying money in charity directed on support to weakly protected layers of population. 2007 was deciding in history of factory. On October, 17 the Kiev Factory of Sparkling Wines «Stolychny» entered the group of European producers of sparkling wines - company Henkell&Co.

A corporation Henkell&Co is one of leading players on European market and owns enterprises which produce sparkling wines, in such countries as Germany, France, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Italy. As result of 2006 the corporation had realized 204, 8 million bottles. Annual money circulation of company makes 513 million euro. It is one in the world corporation non-resident that has production in the province of Champagne. The entrance to the group of companies Henkell&Co means for the Kiev Factory of Sparkling Wines, foremost, strengthening of enterprise position and its trade marks at the market, and also receipt of investing in production and marketing.
